It’s not all about power, our blowers are industry leading because they also include cutting-edge features designed for comfort and efficiency.
Dealers selling ECHO/Shindaiwa products online need to have a signed ECHO MAP Policy posted in the
business portal no later than March 31, 2023. Selling online includes the dealer’s own domain, Amazon,
ebay or any third-party site.
ECHO makes a significant investment in the brand image of its products emphasizing quality, productivity,
and safety. To protect that brand image, ECHO believes that ECHO products should be advertised at prices
that reflect and protect the value of the brand.
ECHO has established a Minimum Advertised Price Policy (“MAP Policy”) to protect the integrity of the
ECHO brand image. The MAP Policy applies to all distributors, dealers, wholesalers, retailers, and other
resellers which are recognized as authorized by ECHO. Products may not be sold from one
wholesaler/reseller to another. Products are to be sold to end users and should be new, in the box and
covered by a warranty.
Dealers may advertise and sell products at any price they consider appropriate. However, it is a violation
of the MAP Policy to advertise any product at a price more than $1.00 below current MSRP. Example:
MSRP is $299.99 acceptable minimum advertised price is no less than $298.99. Such advertisements
include, but are not limited to:
1. Offering coupons, discounts, gift cards, redeemable goods, cash backs, future discounts, rebates,
credits, or other incentives or inducements that, when applied, result in a net advertised price lower
than the MAP, including through use of a storewide sale, promotional code, or any other similar
provision that can be applied to ECHO MAP List.
2. Bundling products with other products or services (whether made by or provided by ECHO or
another entity) in a manner that implies below MAP pricing.
3. Strikeouts or strikethroughs of pricing information, “see price in cart,” or other statements that
suggest that a lower price may be found at the final online checkout stage.
Direct or indirect attempts to bypass the Map Policy also violate this MAP Policy; however, it is not a
violation to advertise that a customer may “call for price,” “text for price,” or “email for price” as long as no
below MAP price is listed and no automated call, text message, or “bounce-back” email is used in response.
In addition, offering free shipping, 0% holiday tax promotion, or free financing is not a violation of the MAP
Policy.
For purposes of the MAP Policy, the terms “advertise”, “advertising” and “advertisement” include all pricing
information published or displayed via any type of media or selling platform.
MAP applies only to advertised prices and does not apply to the price at which ECHO/Shindaiwa products
are actually sold or offered for sale to an individual consumer within a dealer’s retail location. Retail location
is defined as the physical place where end-users can physically buy and take immediate delivery of
ECHO/Shindaiwa products.
Pricing information displayed at the final online checkout stage of a transaction is not considered
“advertising” under the MAP Policy. The “final online checkout stage” is the stage when the product is added
to the shopping cart and includes the customer’s information such as name, shipping address, email
address, and payment. Pricing information in the “shopping cart” or “checkout” should be concealed so that
it is not retrievable by shopping and pricing engines, and not displayed on search page results with respect
to the Distributor or Dealer’s own website.
From time to time, ECHO may announce MAP holidays or other authorized promotions during which periods
advertisement of a product in accordance with the terms of the authorized promotion will not be considered
to have violated the MAP Policy. ECHO will notify distributors and dealers of any authorized promotions.
ECHO will review MAP violations no less than once a week. The following actions will occur if
advertisement fails to comply with the MAP Policy:
• First Offense: A notice of the violation is sent from ECHO to distributor and requires 48 hours
to correct. Distributors must contact the dealer to ensure compliance.
• Second Offense: If correction has not been made, a second notice will be sent from ECHO to
distributors so they can make a telephone call for corrective action and requires 48 hours to
correct.
• Third Offense: If there are three violations within a six-month period, then the distributor will
tell the dealer we reserve the right to require the dealer to remove pricing information for
ECHO/Shindaiwa products published or displayed via any type of media or selling platform for
90 days.
• Fourth Offense: We reserve the right to have the Distributor place the Dealer on a DO NOT
SHIP list for all products for a period of 90 days.
• After 6 months from the date on which a violation occurred, the violation is no longer
considered active and counts toward the total number of violations.
ECHO added a feature to the dealer locator which allows for an ecommerce icon to highlight a dealer’s
ability to conduct business on-line. When clicked, this links the user directly to the dealer’s website. For
your dealer to feature this icon on ECHO’s dealer locator, simply input the dealer’s web address (URL) in
the ECHO business portal and check the box indicating they are an ecommerce dealer in the dealer
information section.
Besides monitoring and MAP policy enforcement we also develop a healthy relationship with your compliant sellers.
