Based in Cape Town, South Africa, this is Leatt®’s home of research & development. Here Dr. Leatt and his team of engineers and designers conceptualise and test new products and constantly strive to improve existing products even further.
The facility features state-of-the-art testing and prototyping equipment that enables the team to take a product from conceptualisation, through testing, all the way to pre-production prototypes.
While the majority of Leatt®’s R&D gets done at the Cape Town facility, collaborations with international partners give our products an international flavour.
To preserve the strength of the LEATT brand, advertised prices need to be based on a reasonable markup that enables our authorized dealers to obtain fair returns on their investments in advertising and display costs, hiring and training qualified salespeople, and maintaining a sufficient inventory of LEATT products. While LEATT does not set or restrict the prices at which dealers may sell LEATT products, LEATT will enforce this advertising policy in order to protect and preserve the LEATT brand equity and goodwill.
With respect to other advertising (see below), only those dealers whose advertisements are consistent with the current LEATT Suggested Retail Price List will be authorized to advertise using any LEATT trademarks, copyrighted images or text, and/or product images. This policy applies to all advertisements of LEATT products. “Advertisement” means announcement, information, publication, or notice given or made by a dealer in connection with the solicitation of business or sales of LEATT products in whatever medium is now known or hereafter developed including websites, print, radio, television, sign (other than a sign within a dealer’s store), catalog, e-mail and electronic media. Any method of advertising which has the effect of reducing the advertised price of an in-season LEATT product below that of the published LEATT Suggested Retail Price List is prohibited. Prohibited advertising practices include, but are not limited to “call for price”, “click for price”, “click for best offer”, “submit price”, “package deals”, “club memberships” or “coupon code” which result in discounted product, and the combining of LEATT product with a free product.
Dealers may advertise non-current products so long as the advertisement clearly marks the product as non-current and lists the product’s model year in the title of the listing (The model year is the 3rd and 4th digits in the product’s part number).
For the purposes of internet sales, the entire web site and page which is used to advertise or effectuate a sale, including any on-line auction, shopping cart or similar device, will be considered part of the advertisement and must comply with the terms of this policy. No dealer/ retailer/ distributor shall represent or hold itself out as a LEATT outlet or any other equivalent designation that conveys to the public any relationship between LEATT and dealer/ retailer/ distributor that is anything other than an independent dealer/ retailer/ distributor relationship and not an affiliate of LEATT, unless expressly consented in writing by LEATT, which consent LEATT may grant or withhold at its sole and absolute discretion. To this end, dealer/ retailer/ distributor shall not establish e-mail or web addresses or social media presence that utilizes the LEATT name or any derivation thereof. All authorized dealers in compliance with the terms of this policy shall be granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the LEATT Marks only in the advertisement of LEATT products in all mediums.
This policy has been unilaterally established by LEATT and is not a contract or agreement, and LEATT does not seek nor will it solicit or accept any retailer’s agreement with this policy. This policy speaks for itself and LEATT personnel are not authorized to vary its terms. LEATT will unilaterally determine whether a dealer is in violation of this policy and will enforce its terms as LEATT believes appropriate. LEATT will not respond to complaints regarding the actions of any third-party with respect to this policy, nor will LEATT discuss pricing of any retailer. This policy is designed to make each dealer’s business as successful as possible and ensure the long-term strength of the LEATT brand. LEATT is confident that each dealer will respect LEATT’s need to protect the LEATT Marks and will assist LEATT in doing so by complying with this advertising policy.
